Sorry Cobalt, I know you are a woman, so probably more calmer then a man, but one has to stand up for what one believes. I personally had friends die, one right in my arms, protecting that flag, and one of my closest buddies had both his legs blown off protecting that flag. Least I could do is beat the ---- out of anyone disrespecting it. Now thats fair, dont you think? jdn

A flag is a piece of cloth.

CB, I guess that's what Francis Scott Key (a lawyer) thought when he saw the flag still flying over Fort McHenry the morning after the British attacked. I guess that's what 6,000 Marines thought as they fought to their death in Iwo Jima. I guess that's why John Phillips Sousa wrote the "Stars and Stripes Forever" and it has been dedicated as our national marching song. I guess that's why the flag is draped over the casket of deceased Americans who have served in our military. I guess that's why it is flown at half staff to recognize government dignitaries. It's merely a piece of cloth.

I thought Brennan and Scalia were wrong in their decision and I still do.

BTW, if it's just a piece of cloth, why the extended effort and cost to prove that it is okay to burn it? Some web sites and posters tell us that it is our patriotic duty to burn the flag when we disagree with our government. Apparently, they can not think of any other way(s) to create or accomplish change in government policies.

CB, I'll end it here since we are in obvious disagreement.
