Neolib, about half of what you listed is or can become an "entitlement." Social Security, for instance, should ideally be a safety net, and not the sole source of income for millions of elder Americans, but unfortunately it's turned into just that.

By the way, I also consider mortgage interest deduction as a huge entitlement. And saying that makes me nervous, considering the $500,000 housing market that I live in.
