Owens is military, through and through.

These two came from John Chamber's school of management - the opposite end of the spectrum.

BCE family tends to have a 3 month probation period. Terminating people after 3 months is a much more rigorous process than prior to a 3 month period. Though at this level, employment contracts may make this irrelevant.

It could be as simple as a management style conflict as the PR stated. I'd suspect that that's a major contributing factor.

The other contributor is probably strategic views. CSCO is focused on enterprise; Owen on govt. Selling to the military is probably the most difficult, time consuming and costly business a company can seek. Big reward if you win, but very difficult to get.

Unless some of the priniciples tell us, we'll probably never know.
