"What's your new party's view on polygamy? "

That is a state or local issue. I've been talking to my wife, but she still is resistant.

I thought Germans were supposed to be open minded...

Polygamy is legal in quite a few countries of the world (Africa in particular). Do you think the USA or the UN should go over there and reform them? Or could it perhaps be a local social matter?

I think that the decision on what the government chooses to recognize as a marriage should be one that goes through the regular political process. Whatever the collective decision is I would accept.

However the decision on how people live and structure their families should be left up to them (within reason, for example no incest, and no marrying children). If 6 women want to consider themselves married to some guy and he agrees, and they form a family, the government shouldn't go after them in any way because of it.

I'm not sure that the government does do this anymore but it did when it first went after the Mormons for polygamy.
