Saying the Pledge of Allegiance is totally voluntary, which goes double for "under God". You don't have to say words that you don't want to say.

I can tell you from personal experience that sitting down during the Pledge won't even get you in trouble, as long as you do it quietly. I used to do that when I was in high school, because my high school was still segregated, so I refused to recite it with a bunch of hypocrites.

Ah, youth!

As far as I could tell, nobody even noticed. ;^)
