OT - the movement of work to places with the lowest labor cost has been going on from the day work was first organized. It is a relentless pattern which the US has thus far adapted to. It would seem that the result so far has been that the general quality of the work we have found to replace that which left has been higher and better.

Now that it is possible to move intellectual work vast distances it may be that things change. The key will probably lie in having a workforce that is more capable than the competition. Thus the concern we see among some corporate leaders over the quality of schooling. I would be more concerned over the quality of motivation. I live in a fairly multicultural neighborhood of high achievers and I see much greater motivation among the children of newer arrivees.
