I didn't open your links yet, but from USPTO I saw many patents with Ampex as Assignee, and of those it seemed:

6,724,826
Varian April 20, 2004

6,043,947
Gooch, et al. March 28, 2000

are important. Dates above are issuance.

Now I opened the links, and the '826 was your third.

Thanks again. What I am attempting to find out is if pat. #121 is needed for DVDR or is it a different basket?
