I personally think marijuana is just a horrible drug. It causes lethargy and mental confusion, and the tar in your lungs is much more carcinogenic than smoking cigarettes. Whenever I used to smoke it, every tiny pain and creak and such in my body would just throb, so it is amazing to me that people actually take it for pain relief. It made me acutely aware, and meditative in a very insular way that I suspect is not too good for sick people. On the other hand, I understand how it could increase appetite! I certainly don't think medical marijuana should be prohibited.

I would think there might be a concern that a lot of medical personnel would become addicted to heroin if it where available medically. Don't the synthetic versions work pretty well? I don't think we probably need to increase the demand for opium poppies, really. But I am no expert on international drug trafficking, of course!
