What do you think will happen if they increase combat/hazardous duty pay to, say, an additional $50K or $100K a year? Will that fix the problem?

The contractors in Afghanistan and Iraq earn $150,000 to $250,000.
A maximum of 30,000 men total were recruited for this work in the past three years. Most serve one year.

The US Army needs at least 80,000 recruits annually to maintain current strength levels.

I don't believe we can buy our way out of this.
