Some of the policies endorsed by this thread would require some very strong, centralized government bureaucracies to implement.

Some programs do naturally lend themselves to central planning, and others tend to a central dominate entity either by monopoly practices or shrinking market. The controlling entity could be either public or private, but if it is private there is little input that anyone but the owners, and more realisticly the company officers can offer. Public ownership or regulation means that there is some chance at accountability by means of the ballot box.
