But one has to remember the REAL reasons why the US is in Iraq in the first place 1. Dubya wanted to prove something to his daddy -- and still does 2. It benefits Israel to see every Muslim dead -- especially those who have supported the Palestinians 3. The smell of oil is intoxicating -- especially at $50 a barrel. And all those reasons are still in place. Furthermore, it goes without saying that the national loss of prestige brought about by another Vietnam-type situation would be more than the US could bear. Indeed, after such an event the US would be the laughing stock of the international community -- and not without justification.
