I have to admit that I've never taken the time to really research the Pollard case. I pretty much assumed that it was as the bigots claim, i.e., that Pollard committed treason for his own personal reasons, both financially and as someone concerned more about Israel than the US. After all, why would the high ups in US intelligence be so adamant in keeping him in prison?

That's a great post and certainly makes me think that perhaps Pollard has sufferred enough. After all, I understand that all the USSR cold war spies have been released.

The bigots will continue to use this case to try to put a wedge between Israel and the US.

Right off the bat.
Why did Pollard feel that Israel needed to know our planned tactics if war broke out with Russia? That's some of the info he gave. Come on Steve. That's spin after the fact.
What you posted is from the Jonathan Pollard web site and it's stretching the truth. I wonder if there is an AdolfHitler.org/facts.htm posted by his family/supporters, that picks and choses what history to bring forth in order to portray him as being wrongly acused in history. Heck, was he ever indicted?
Pollard planned on continuing receiving $2,500/mo plus other bonuses for next 10 years.

"Furthermore, on May 11, 1998, Israel formally acknowledged Jonathan Pollard had been a bona fide Israeli agent. This fact wiped out any remaining doubt about Jonathan Pollard's motives. Being an official agent is, by definition, the polar opposite of being a mercenary."
Steve, please. I never would have guessed you were one of the "it all depends what is is" crowd. In Hersch's article he also shows attempted meetings with people from other countries to spy for. At the time he was short of money. What a great timing, he could be a mercenary agent. A lot of agens are well paid.

How do you feel about the prisoners at Guantanamo. They were never indicted either and so far they are not getting a trial.

Clinton didn't just reneg on releasing Pollard. He was contacted by a group of knowledgeable people (including jews, so no anti-semitism) saying that he should not be released and told why.

One of the best ones you posted is "14. Jonathan Pollard was indicted on only one charge: one count of passing classified information to an ally, without intent to harm the United States." a. that's all they indicted him on. That's not all he did. (Again, giving battle plans against Russia to Israel)
b. What about the fool that drives the getaway car in a robbery who did not expect his buddy to kill the storekeeper they were robbing. Guess what? Still felony murder even though he didn't mean that the storekeeper would get killed any more than Pollard expected the US to get destroyed by providing the info to his buddy Israel.

That thing you posted sounds like it was written by Dershowitz(sp).

You usually post things that are not such blatant PR pieces Steve. I had enough of Clinton and his parsing. That's what this smacks of.
