Pearlybutton Re: "Aluminum" What I have observed with industrial plant fires fueled by petroleum and/or petrochemicals like plastics is that aluminum sheet, even as thick as 14-16 gauge is that it will completely oxidize and will disappear without a trace. Structural aluminum, the angles channels and other thicker shapes will usually melt and puddle on the floor. During the peak of the fire there is probably considerable combustion going on there too but when the fire subsides the slag remains. I have never observed the aftermath of a petroleum fire in a multi-story high rise building so I can only guess what might happen.

One thing is that molten aluminum is a very fluid and low viscosity substance so when the collapse occurred the stuff was probably sprayed in all directions, maybe combusting before it could come to rest on the ground. If so all that would remain is the white dust of aluminum oxide.

You mention evidence and that is the very nub of the governments credibility problem with these 9-11 type disasters. From everything I have read about the aftermath of these affairs is that the agents in charge of the site investigation and clean-up are excessively restrictive and don't allow a sufficient number of independent investigators to have access to the site. They treat the site like a high state secret on the level with diplomatic codes or nuclear weapons secrets and thereby arouse lots of suspicion. It was like that with Waco, the Murrah Building and of course 911. Even with the perps; read Gore Vidal's accounts of dealing with the feds in an attempt to have a dialog with Timothy McVeigh, a dialog if continued could have been very valuable in that McVeigh might have revealed many details about the conspiracy that he took to the the grave with his execution.

My sloppy mistake. But half full is still an enormous amount of energy. There would have been a lot of inflammable stuff in the building too. I'd say the temperatures were probably high enough to burn almost everything.
