Before i came back to this thread i posted somewhere that until 9/11, the US was asleep at the wheel in understanding the threat and responding to terrorism. We had the 1993 warning and the terrorist attacks that clinton reacted to with not enough vigor. And then back to sleep. And Bush was president for 9 months before he ever said the T word publicly. This is part of our nature as americans--usually very charming naivite on the left or not doing anything to hurt business on the right--We have missed other events in our past like this too--Pearl Harbor. What is most interesting though is that whenever i say this, i get killed by the left for attacking clinton and by the right for attacking pre-9/11 bush.
