So if McCain got the republican nod against any of the major talked about dems, who on this thread would abandon him?

He'd lose because centrist republicans can't elect a President alone.

I am not a McCain fan. However, given the republican candidates so far - Frist, J.Bush, Rommey etc.; I'd say McCain has a great chance. Especially, if the liberals run clinton or kerry.
