He brought up the hysterics of what he might expect from a woman who was President, and felt that women are too emotional to lead the country. What he said had multiple parts. I addressed his leap from a few women reacting hysterically in this one situation to the generalizations that women gey hysterical and men don't. Hysteria is the manifestation of being emotionally captured. During the discussion of flag burning, the descriptions of what was going were all about an emotional reaction to the flag. Do I need to go back and pick out all the "feeling" words and the references to physiological emotional reactions, like goose bumps. Here's the bottom line on the emotional bit: siliconinvestor.com If you take something that's strictly emotional to the point where you can't think straight, for example, not recognizing arguments about the symbolic nature of the flag or the fact of the freedom of speech, or feel compelled to beat, maim, or kill someone who harms the flag, or rush out into a flurry of bullets to save it, that's hysteria. You may want to call it anger or patriotism because those are manlier words for it and "everyone knows" only women get hysterical. But that doesn't change the fact that it's a disabling emotional reaction, aka hysteria. P.S. I watched TV last evening and saw maybe a dozen expert commentators and I say only calm, lucid reactions. Don't know where the allegedly hysterical women who started all of this were to be found.
