I mean exactly what I said: methane (pound for pound in the atmosphere) promotes four or five times more warming then CO2 does... so *burning* methane that would otherwise be released into the air, REDUCES the impact on global warming significantly.

This (capturing & using methane that is currently being *vented* from oil wells, hog waste ponds, and from garbage dumps) is one of the few methods for reducing the potential for global warming that is actually COST EFFECTIVE. It might even be possible at NO NET COST, because of the commercial value of natural gas.

(Not to mention the economic advantages at helping to keep energy prices lower....)
