First we need a president and Congress who really believe in balanced budgets. Some parties pay lip service to that cause and small government in general, but we know from experience that they thrive on big government and wielding ever greater powers in the name of protecting the "people".

I don't see much of anything changing in Washington until there is a wholesale revolt against incumbents based on general disgust with the whole process.

But 80% of the electorate is too busy playing the piss-and-blame game perpetuated by the partisan camps and hate-talk media jocks to get their 51% "winners" in power.

We have a general consensus what is "right" in government - moderate spending, less intrusion in personal affairs, etc. How do we get there?
