What is the solution?...other than to lay the cards on the table for the Iraqi...they don't have the luxury of waiting for perfect conditions...nor do we...

gawd...I just typed a lengthy response and a cyberspace monkey ate it as I was clicking submit.

Here is a synopsis.

The Iraqis are accepting responsibility for their own security. For every Iraqi recruit killed by a suicide bomber, 2 take his place in line.

We now have A teams teaching special tactics to thousands of Iraqis. All Iraqi security patrols continue to increase exponentially.

We are drawing down...from 160,000 in country just 90 days ago to 135,000 today or according to some closer to 120,000. The NG and Reserves on active duty were down some 16,000 last month.

What we are not doing is advertising our strategic moves. That is just good OPSEC.

We are suffering the besotting decisions of the manpower and budget cuts of the previous decade.

Amen.

Nevertheless our folks are performing well.

The whole country...our country...needs a morale boost.
Killing or capturing obl and/or z-man would help.

Or we could follow Spain's lead.
Spain just announced the capture of 16 aq operatives in Spain.

We have had numerous similar successes world-wide. They do not get announced. We should take another look at our public affairs effort. Americans need to hear about our wins....all of them.
