Re: Screw it. If we get a Christian party, I am definitely moving to Canada

Guess then Germany is out of question with the "Christian Democratic Union" soon the rule again for another 15 years or so...

Actually, "Christian" doesn't have the same meaning over here... Although most European countries have Christian parties (whether Social-Christian or Christian-Democrat), the Christianity they refer to is much less ideological and political than its American counterpart. In the US, "Christian" is actually a proxy for "Far-right" and/or religious arch-conservatism. Chances are that, the more Christian an American fancies him/herself the more racist/segregationist, the more pro-life, and the more homophobe s/he's gonna be. But that's not the way Christian politics play out in Europe. In Europe, Christian-Democrats and Social-Democrats belong to the moderate, middle-of-the-road school whereas the European far-right sports istelf as unreligious or pagan --except for a small sub-fringe made up of Catholic fundamentalists (followers of excommunicated Mgr Lefebvre(*),....)

I think you may be singing to the choir. Taro is Swedish, lives part time in Germany and Italy as well as the US. ;~)
