"IMO there is no optimal peak for the Laffer Curve."

I believe that the 'optimal' position for a society would NOT be at the peak... but somewhere to the left of the peak, well down the curve.

The problem though, that I was pointing out is that there is no accepted method for determining WHERE a country is on the 'curve', nor even if the bell shape properly models the economic reality of Laffer....

Since the probability of doing a double blind study is nil, we have to use the best available evidence. Evidence suggests that the Laffer Curve exists and is relevant. I agree that society is best served by not maximizing taxation. We also agree that society is best served by being below maximized tax receipt levels. Elected and unelected government officials seem unconcerned with our opinions.

If we do not test the lower end of the range, we never will determine the shape of the curve.
