All we needed was for the 4th Infantry Division to be able to cross Turkey to get to the battlefield on time and introduce themselves to the four republican guard divisions in northern Iraq.


Would they have fought? Or melted away in preparation for the guerilla war which we now know was planned all along? The 4th Infantry would not have stopped Zarqawi & co either.

It still seems to me that what was really lacking was not the troops, but the attitude - that we would impose order no matter what it took.
