I did that a long time ago and so did my kids. When they decided, however, to have their evangelic confirmation and being baptized 2 weeks prior to that (a requirement), I did provide a generous dedication to same church. I don't like freebees... But isn't that a significant point. My friends say they provide the tithes because they will want their kids baptized in the church.....one is Lutheran and the other is Catholic. I got the impression that you can't join the church just before your kid gets born.....that you have to be a member in good standing.........but maybe I was wrong. ted
