I completely agree with you. Water notwithstanding, the heart and soul of Judaism is in the West Bank towns. That is why we are seeing settlements accelerating in the West Bank, even as Sharon talks of Gaza disengagement.

I would bet my left arm that even if the U.S. was to withdraw all aid to Israel, they wouldn't change their policies in the West Bank. This is why I consistently say that the blame Muslims and liberal left folks place on the U.S. for all the problems in Palestine and Israel is misplaced. There are so many problems within the Palestinian and Jewish societies, that we can't hope to make a whole lot of progress. Those two groups need to grow up or continue fighting. But either way, they can only extricate themselves from this problem. The U.S. alone cannot do it. Only if the whole world came together (including the surrounding Muslim countries) and decided to do something together about it, would a real solution present itself in the short term. Until then, the U.S. alone can't make peace happen in that region.

Very true but this will never happen: 90% of the water in this region is in the WB region.

MM, the very fact is and most likely remains, that Israel may well pull back from Gaza but will never seriously consider doing so from the West Bank. The reasons for that are multiple:

Its infuriating but you are very likely right.
