I do know they are always trying to limit the available encryption methods for commercial use. It allows them to crack commercial traffic. DES with its relatively short keys was one result of that.

They'll all be put out of business when the first (operational) quantum computers kick in --clue:

Of course, NSA computer geeks will remain useful in helping the FBI chase after pedophiles, petty criminals, and mobsters who can't afford quantum cryptography.... Echelon could be refitted as an IRS tool to flush out tax fraudsters....
