RE: "China isn't very communist anymore"

China's "command and contral" is very communistic in nature and one of the things the brokerage firms have written about as their strengths in effeciency and growth. Look no further than India, to see the struggles of democracy below a certain GDP. And India has one of the smartest leaders in the world - a financial genius.

Of course, China's way of dealing with Sars wasn't particularly open, but certainly more communistic. Remember how communistic USSR handled Chernobyl? A contact of mine was in the general area where Sars had broken out in China - I learned from him the Chinese govt had blocked access to WHO's website and any info on Sars, before the Time's article broke the story on this. We were telling him what to do. You would think their govt would take a proactive approach, but they cannot be trusted to be proactive. Asian flu probably will probably be handled in a similar way as Sars.
