And then there was the draft, which led to protests. When flag-wavers are forced to put their lives where their mouths are, enthusiasm for wars, especially wars of choice like Vietnam and now Iraq, will plummet.

And FYI, the French won every battle in Algeria too, but got screwed anyway. That is how it is when you are dealing with guerrilla warfare. You didn't learn the lessons from Vietnam. You have a second chance to learn the lessons now.
