I updated and have had no problems, Do not remember if I have used WORD since then but will check and let you know.

I open Word with no problem. Running XP home and opened Word from Office XP.

Yes, on my system it downloaded itself automatically and later I shut down the computer for a few hours. When I attempted to restart the computer, it hung before getting to the BIOS. I had to reset the computer and then it did start normally.

This was a moment from Windows 98 Hell that I would have prefered not to relive. <grin>

I gave up on the MS update when they wanted me to get on my hands and knees under my desk and try to read a 25 digit number, on a sticker on the box, in 10 point type with my very tired old eyes. To validate what I already know... I am a legit user of everything on both my machines.
