Those 15 or so Reps at today's Conyers meeting will use this meeting as a starting point IMO. They needed a venue for what I hope will be a groundswell of support for at least showing how evil Bush has been. Impeaching? Maybe not with the current congress.
2006 may be a rosey election year.

I am way out of my area of expertise here
We can tell.

Where one needs the consent of congress to declare war.
But Clinton did before Yugoslavia, right?
Where were you then, hypocrite?

Congress DID invoke the War Powers Act. I think that's all that's these days. Sure seems to be.

I consider Bush immoral, mendacious, even evil, but not treasonous.

coug, don't get me wrong. I think my post was a harsh criticism of Bush. Bush is mendacious, incompetent, arrogant and probably a war criminal. He has endangered America and the world.

Its just that I think "treason" is narrowly defined, and IMO Bush's actions haven't met the definition.

========
Article II, Section 4

The President, Vice President and all Civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.

======== Definition of levying

levy
verb levies, levied, levying

1. To calculate and then collect (a tax, etc).
Thesaurus: tax, collect, demand, assess, exact, raise.2. To raise (an army or the money needed to fund a war).

======= Is it possible to find a way to connect these definitions with lying to get us to go to war?

"Do you consider undermining our constitution, treason? Where one needs the consent of congress to declare war. Bush didn't get that.. And what do we have now?.. WAR..

You are not declaring war are you? We are not at war with any nation to my knowledge. Our military is deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan and various other locations in the world in an effort to support the existing governments in there efforts to establish security. There is some vague notion of war against terrorism, which I equate to the war on drugs type of rhetoric. It's more like a stance than an actual declaration of War.
