I think it is close to insane to believe the Democrats are mostly to blame for the brainwashing that is going on now. There was a scandal in the Clinton White House, and I think a lot of people behaved very badly in defending Clinton, because they lost the moral high ground. I think if I had to choose just one thing that has destroyed the Democratic party, it would have to be that. The spectacle was unseemly and disgusting.

However, since Bush has been in office it is not the Democrats whose mouthpieces shill the talking points they get from the White House every morning. It is people like Sean Hannity who do that. And I think the Republicans are much more likely to break laws, like the whole Bush administration lying and covering up and dissembling about the mess in Iraq, or the now classic administration official who edited the global warming report from the administrations own scientists to misrepresent and downplay the seriousness of the problem.
