Well, daycare would definitely help the middle class. It would enable both parents to work, which gives them class mobility. I remember when my kids were in daycare, the cost amounted to a little more than my monthly house mortgage. It was unbelievable. It was worth it, because my wife earned a good penny, but I can't imagine many middle class families being able to afford two mortgages, and have anything left over for retirement, college savings, and life's pleasures.
