I've been dithering on weighing in on the Durbin fiasco, but figured discretion was the better part of valor in this case. Likewise, I started to respond this morning to this rant on "fascism" but thought better of it. "Fascism" is a perfectly good English word. It has meaning. It is useful. But this bozo takes off on it as though it someone had used the f-word. "Fascist" is different from "fascist" which is different from "Nazi." There is, indeed, a concept such a concept as religious fascism although perhaps (I didn't read it) the usage that triggered the rant was inaccurate or hyperbolic. It's bizarre to consign a perfectly good word to the garbage because it can be provocative or because people don't know what it means. Reminds me of the "niggard" discussion. Message 21425636 But since you've taken the first step. I didn't intend to enter the Durbin discussion, either, not one step. I was just commenting on the logic fallacy shared by Russ and one of our own that provoked a discussion the other day. (Nice to see that someone got it.) I will hold my comments on the substance of the Durbin matter until I get an answer from Mr. Lucky. <g>
