I don't even know what's "middle brow" and what's "high brow" these days.

I was mildly surprised to learn that I had actually come to like Jackson Pollock and can listen to Sacre de Printemps with pleasure. I've always adored Satie and Marcel Duchamp, but I haven't been able to learn to appreciate John Cage.
