Nadine, I was trying to point out an example where it helps to know the other person's culture/custom/religion/etc.

Its not my place to discuss the appropriateness with them. I just need to understand the protocol, so I dont offend someone.

How do u think I feel, not meeting my friend of 20+years ? Such is life. I will go to their house, talk to her thru a veiled partition, and next year will meet her in person.

This is a system where women are as young children all of their lives.

Plenty of Christians believe that in 21st century USA. Women are hysterical and flighty and can't be trusted with anything important - so saith several on this thread. Women must submit to their husbands -- that's Southern Baptist dogma.
