isn't the point of the Downing Street memo that the Bush administration had started the buildup towards the invasion in the summer of 2002?

I think the point is not that there was an intent to invade Iraq, which I agree we all "knew," but that the justification was contrived, which some of us didn't "know."

<<Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't the point of the Downing Street memo that the Bush administration had started the buildup towards the invasion in the summer of 2002? Which everybody knew?>>

You have that right. Of course Bush came up with the idea of the war in Iraq BEFORE he approached the UN or Congress. First he looked at the intel, history and what might happen going or not going. To think he would have come up with the idea AFTER going to the UN and Congress would only be believed by an idiot, which there seems to be no problem.
