"The purpose of the Geneva Conventions ...to spell out the rules of war, rules that impose reciprocal obligations on both sides of a conflict." True. And, it calls for a hearing to differentiate those who will be afforded POW status from those captured who will NOT. (Until the hearing, however, all are presumed to be POWS.) A legal hearing can be as simple as a military tribunal, held in the field... as the US often did with German terrorists captured in civilian clothes after the end of official hostilities in WW II.

Let us hope Durbin is digging his OWN GRAVE. Now its time for the rest of us to shove him in it. We are at war, a war against a treacherous enemy who will use any method, no matter how vile or treacherous to defeat us. Durbin has elected to SIDE WITH THE ENEMY, this is SEDITION and we all know the traditional punishment for that. jdn
