A friend just emailed this to me about General Wesley Clark and his decision to be a contributor on Fox News...

<<...Wes goes into the Lions Den. Wes has been on FOX often and he says what he thinks straight out and without regard for party lines. He's got starch, true grit. When he gives opinions on the military, he does it as an expert in the field not as an ideologue. If he defends a friend or colleague, he does it without apology. One of the many lessons his mach 3 brain learned in the Dem primaries was not to let the media spin the questions and answers -- he turns any spin into a straight line and makes it clear what the real question is and what facts are for any issue. Clark has been voting Democratic for over a decade, was registered, as many are in Arkansas and as appropriate to a military person on active duty, as an independent. But his views of economics, social issues, and the military are in the liberal tradition. He will not yield. We have to remember that the mainstream media first did a clampdown on Wes and then a media blackout. Wes is doing an end run around them by appearing on FOX where his views will be heard by many who will support him. With an antagonistic media Wes managed to come in third in New Hampshire (behind the frontrunners Kerry and Dean and ahead of Edwards despite the "bump" from Iowa), first in Oklahoma, a state where Edwards had visited longer and more often than any other candidate, and second in more states than any other candidate in the Super Seven (Arizona, New Mexico, and North Dakota). Wes Clark appeals to blue, purple and many red voters and needs to be put in front of the public. Remember how CNN refused to acknowledge Wes Clark's Oklahoma win for a full week after it happened? Wes was the top speaker on behalf of Kerry appearing more than any other former candidate, including Dean (who was close behind), and Edwards (who was far behind). When Kerry's advisor's domestic issue approach failed, it was to Clark that Kerry turned to bring him back up to once again have a viable campaign. He is the most potent and most underrated of those who are mentioned for '08. Watch him run!..>>
