re: When the North Vietnamese army invaded the south it was an imposition of military force, not an exercise in self determination of South Vietnam.

Depends on if you see it as one country or two countries. It's one country now, our buddies, who was right?

re: Its nowhere near as tough. There is nothing like the NVA, and there is no superpower support for our enemies.

If you believe that we can impose out will forever, I suppose you are right. If you believe that the local people will prevail, then I suppose I am right. I think Iraq is much more complicated than Vietnam. Maybe the most complicated ethnic, tribal, religious place in the world.

re: The Baathists and Jihadis want us out so they can impose their vision on Iraq. The majority of Iraqis want us out but not right away. The Iraqis don't want the Baathist or Jihadis to win. I don't see any reason why we should oblige the Baathist and or the Jihadis.

From what I understand, everybody wants us out. The winning party in the elections ran on a platform that they would get us out in 12 months; since rescinded.

We're just delaying the inevitable... and getting our kids killed in the meantime.
