The good news is this isn't very common. It's a symptom of affluence. In poor countries this wouldn't happen, since just getting fed is such a struggle, no one fixates on NOT getting fed. With affluence comes some of the neuroses of affluence, and if we own up to what they are I think we can treat them effectively.

I'm glad you posted it for people who didn't know about it.
