Is that rhetorical question? If you want it to be. They were men of action who became frustrated with the unfair tax regime imposed by a remote and non-responsive government. Really unfair. There was no income tax, the Stamp Act had been repealed...even postage was voluntary. The colonies weren't willing to pay even a small fraction of what England was spending on defending them. Instead, they thought the English should foot the entire bill. And then there was the intolerable Quebec Act. That's where England allowed Catholics to practice Catholicism. Horrors! What's going to happen if they allowed Catholics to practice their religion in the rest of the colonies? jttmab
