I have pondered the trade deficit problem and I keep coming back to the same question - how do you solve it?>

Raise rates now. Stop the stealth move on inflation expressed through rising housing values. People are too greedy they borrow all their equity to buy foreign goods. One day they will wake up so deep in debt they will never be able to pay it off. In addition our children will be paying 500K for our tract housing that I paid 80K for in 1991. I don't want that to happen so this could be brought to a halt with higher rates. I see a false prosperity built on credit extensions not real manufacturing growth.

Is that a valid idea at all?
