The whole world can eat very well without eating any meat at all. Eating meat is a major cause of cancer and heart disease and several other illnesses. Now the destruction of the rain forest for cattle grazing is a concern re global warming, and the runoff from factory farms threatens rivers and streams, not to mention the public health, since factory farmed meat is full of the chicken feces (and dead chickens) the animals eat,not to mention cow blood and restaurant waste. The antibiotics the animals are shot full of are a huge public health concern, as well.

I think your history of the growth of factories, factory farms in particular, is fairly accurate, but your conclusion(?) that this is better than people going to bed hungry does not mean that factory farming is a positive, or that there are not better solutions to the hunger problem than eating meat.

As the cruelty and disease factors become known about factory farmed animals, actually more Americans are turning to organic, free range meat. Now all it will take is a serious mad cow scare, and millions of us will become vegetarians suddenly as happened in England when they got mad cow over there.
