expect if you had a light you kept on all the time these would pay out with less energy use and avoid bulb replacements.

Yes a 60 Watt replacement is $270.00

AC-72 LED Bulb: a very good overhead, porch, or back door light. It can be retrofitted into an existing fixture. Medium base. 4" diameter. Lens is a prismatic diffuser type. AC-72 compares to a 60 watt bulb. Available in 120vac or 240vac. Estimated life of 30,000 plus hours. Cool White only. May require socket extender from local hardware store.
AC-72 - 72 LEDs - 60mA @120vac - comparable to a 60W incandescent [6.5 watt consumption] $270.00 each

Don't forget how expensive the first consumer CD players were, or anything else of this type. :-)

I wouldn't be an early adopter of any of this, but almost before we know it, they'll be everywhere. Look at how many traffic lights are already LED based, as well as these amazing video displays by the side of the freeway - bright and clear in broad daylight with the sun shining !
