Are you confident enough in your belief that marijuana
smokers don't kill with their driving that you'd
be comfortable seeing some creature you cherish
directly in the path of such a driver?

I wouldn't want to see a creature I cherish directly in the path of ANY driver.

It is possible that people who have ingested marijuana but no other drugs and no alcohol MIGHT have a lower accident rate than people who are not stoned, because drivers on marijuana drive very slowly and are more cautious than normal.

Have you ever smoked marijuana? If so, have you ever driven a vehicle under its influence? I'm not trying to pry or get personal--it just seems that if you had some first-hand knowledge, you might not be so incredulous about the idea that drivers on marijuana have a relatively low accident rate.

I wouldn't push any creature I care about out on to the road, but I suspect the marijuana user would see the deer a lot sooner than the drunk would, because he would be going very much slower and be very, very aware of his environment.
