You can do that with relatives. But when it's your boss that's late, or an administrator, so someone who is in a lateral position, you really can't be anything but fairly polite (imo)- unless you want to create a hostile work environment.

And when it's a friend, you either have to live with it, and be accommodating, or lose the friendship. I have a couple friends who are worth the wait- or at least that's the mantra I repeat as I wait for them...
