Recruiting Blues:

Re: You heard or read the contrary?

The best metrics that I've read is that the U.S. Army had hoped to recruit 80,000 new fools this year (FY 2005, i.e. Oct. 2004-Oct. 2005) and are on track currently to only secure 60,000 pieces of cannon-fodder.

I didn't have any data points on the Navy or Air Force. It makes sense that if someone were smart enough to want to sign up for the college bennies, that they'd possibly be smart enough to want to serve in a branch of death-dealing that would most likely leave them with all their limbs and only the guilty conscience to suffer through.
