So you support turning SS into a welfare program?

Yes. In fact I called for something like that before Bush ever did. Perhaps not with Bush's particular method, but I'm on the record on SI, as calling for SS to be a real safety net and not something that is supposed to provide for seniors in general. It doesn't make sense to me that a minimum wage worker pays in to a fund that pays out to a multi-millionaire retiree. Of course even with Bush's plan the rich retiree will still get money, but the amount paid out won't increase the way that the current plan would have it increase.

My my, anything that comes from Bush must be OK.

You keep pushing that line and I don't know why. I've never been a fanatic for any particular politician, not have I ever been likely to accept some idea or policy because of its source. And in this case, as I mention above, I was calling for something similar, even if done differently, long before Bush suggested it.
