"...a large new supply of oil available to the market."

That supply was already on "the market". It just wasn't as mobile. Increased efficiency of transportation does not make it "new" supply just as increased efficiency of extraction does not create "new" supply.
You need to separate real supply from extraction and transportation issues.
As for the sky falling...after oil peaks (if it hasn't already)...the sky will fall.
Oil is the sky of the the world economy.
As for oil prices....speculation hasn't even begun yet. Only the foundations for speculation have been set.
