yup
It seemed to be much the same when we were there. In Scotland kids could leave the academy at 16, or continue on two more years to 19. The man who cut my hair in Scotland left at 16 to pursue a career as a stylist, and by 18 he had his own business (of course he had family backing, and his family owned several hair salons, but still, he seemed very satisfied with the way the system worked for him.) I talked to a lot of people in Scotland about the school system, since I am interested in schools and how they work. I did not find many people who were dissatisfied.
