JDN .. Ethanol Ethanol is the designated replacement for MTBE which is a proved carcinogen and will be phased out of all transport fuels .. This use alone is a huge market and doesn't require any modifications to existing engines .. Burning gas/ethanol blends at greater than 15% concentrations requires flex fuel engines and replacement of certain plastic components in the fuel system .. Corn is not the most efficient feedstock for ethanol production, but it is by far the cheapest and most plentiful source at present ..
